Follow-up and survivorship
This section provides guidance on follow-up of patients after active treatment for early breast cancer and on survivorship care that focusses on health and well-being for people living with and beyond early breast cancer.
Recommendations and practice points are included on continuity of care (communication, follow-up care plans and information for patients), follow-up surveillance including imaging (e.g. for cardiac dysfunction and local recurrence), monitoring and managing side effects and complications of treatment (lymphoedema, menopausal symptoms, sleep disorders, pain, cognitive impairment and reproductive and sexual health), and psychosocial needs and supportive care.
The recommendations and practice points are a guide to appropriate practice, to be followed subject to the clinician’s judgement and the person’s preference in each individual case.
